Our sideline cheerleaders provide spirit to our Little Highlanders football organization, which has been a part of the Oak Hills community since 1973! Our athletes learn a wide variety of cheers, chants, and jumps, while also learning a bit about what happens at a football game and how to lead the crowd (just like they may someday on Friday night at Oak Hills High School)! Our team of coaches are hand picked for their experience, and are trained in safety as well as how to effectively train and develop young athletes.
For the child who is interested in sideline cheerleading only, or who is also meeting the requirement to participate in competition cheer.
We accept cheerleaders grades K through 6. Participants will cheer for the grade they are entering.
Squads are limited to 40 cheerleaders.
Practices start at the beginning of July and will end after school starts (meaning the commitment after school starts will be to only attend games). Practices are held twice weekly at one of the local elementary schools.
Football games start mid August and run through mid November. Squads will cheer for both Little Highlander football teams at only home football games, but will be expected to travel for playoff and Super Bowl games. Games may be played on Saturdays and Sunday. You can expect to cheer at 8-10 games.
Cheerleaders may also opt to participate in competition cheer. Information about competition cheer can be found here.
*Returning cheerleaders may reuse briefs and jackets from last year and reduce their fees by $5 for briefs and $50 for jackets.
^A processing fee of $5 will be added to your total.
